8 Months 'Til Christmas!

That might seem like a long time away, but when you sell handmade items (especially some that take a while to finish) it really isn't that far away.  Most of the stores I deal with get their traffic in the summer and early fall so I have to have most of my inventory made by that means getting the Christmas stuff finished now too.

A pile of almost finished Stockings.

These are made with pieces of woollen blanket, stitched together with an old fashioned blanket stitch using matching yarn.  The finished stockings will have a white blanket fabric cuff.  I make them in green with white cuff, red with white cuff and white with white cuff with a contrasting green and red stitch.

Seasons 1 and 2

Reintroducing A Bag For All Seasons "Spring"....

I had to do a little tweaking.  I changed the leaf colour to a "springier" green and made it so that there are enough flowers and leaves to go around the bag without leaving gaps.  It's much better looking than the prototype...

Also introducing A Bag For All Seasons "Summer".  This is the first of it's kind, so it ended up not being perfect but the pic still shows where I'm going with it.  I'll be keeping this prototype for myself (aw shucks) and the next bags will be put together better.  By better I mean there will not be a gap between the roses and the leaves and there will be a few more leaves.  Also I think I should curve the line of the roses to be higher at the sides like I did in the "Spring" bag.  Even though it's only almost perfect, I'll still be very proud to wear it around town...

Rugs and Flowers and Leaves and Stuff...

Earlier today I tossed a few bags of goodies into the washing machine....

...out came some felted autumn leaves....

...and pretty poinsettias.  I think they will look beautiful added to some "Bags for All Seasons".

I thought that the nicest way to take a picture of rugs on such a nice day, was to hang them on the line.  They look different from each other but that's just the way the light was hitting them.  They are all from the same lot of natural white and natural light grey.

An a closer look.

Out and About in Summerside

I wore my "Springtime" Bag out in Summerside today and everywhere I stopped women commented on how pretty it is and asked if I sell them.  Well, YES I certainly do:)  The "Bag For All Seasons" Series, Springtime being the first, are still being worked on, that is to say they are still being assembled and tweaked.  As soon as all the kinks are worked out on all 4 bags (Springtime, Summer, Autumn and Winter) they will be posted and available through my website (see side right for link).  I will also let you know what stores are carrying them.  Until then, thank you to my blog followers for your wonderful comments and thank you to the lady at Water Street Dental Clinic and the other nice lady at Summerside Wendy's for liking my bag so much.  It made me very happy.

Still Here.

I swear I'm still here, alive and almost well.  I haven't posted in the last week because I've been ill and have not accomplished a thing.  So, sadly that means I have nothing to show for the last many days.  I'll be taking the next couple of days off from textiles also as my day job and personal life call me away from it.  But I promise to have many pretties to show you soon.

A Great Day.

Had a great day today....took a quick trip to one of my stores that carry my stuff with a nice sized order of Felted Bags and Christmas Stockings.  I love the stuff I make and it feels wonderful that others appreciate it also.  But now my inventory is down a bit so back to work!!!!
