Life

I look all around me this time of year and everything is just bursting with life.  The Lilac bushes, although still small, are loaded with buds.  The fruit trees are swelling, the berry bushes leafing...it will soon be a sea of green.

Mr. Homesteader planted 2 Lodi Apples yesterday, these ones ripen in August instead of waiting until the fall.

One of our MacIntosh Apples

Apricot is just about to bloom.

Black Currant is in leaf...a favourite from my childhood in Germany.

We planted these grapes years ago and let them take over this purpose-built lattice structure.  After spending a night in Trento Italy, walking out of the back door of a little hotel to find grapes dripping down over my head  suspended on lattic, I knew one day I would have that too.

Alaska Kiwi...we added this last year and it looks like it made it through the winter just fine.

  1. Wow! Nice tree list. Both of use are going to be drowning in preserves in a few years... We're also getting two english walnuts this week. Can you say obsessed? :)

    1. Thanks Allison, we've been working on that list for 8 years and it's starting to fill our fruit baskets:)
