Weather Bomb

Oooooooh boy...have you been watching the news?  Have you heard that the North East has been buried?  I live in a spot that gets a lot of snow, no joke, but I think this is the most snow I've seen at one time, in this area yet.

You really can't see the height of the snow here because of the sunlight, but it was about 5 feet high when Mr. opened the door and started shovelling.

When we did finally get ourselves shovelled out of the house and our neighbour opened our lane...this was the drive to work.  The road is a single vehicle track with 10-14 feet high banks on either side.  We patiently waited our turn this morning as there was a car stuck coming in the opposite direction (they managed to get unstuck and went back in the direction that they came from).  While 4 or 5 of us where waiting our turn, a car full of local cowboys decided to pass us and pull in front.  When Mr. told them they were only going to get stuck with their car, he was told to F*(% O@* by the driver.  I do hope those lads don't expect service at our store any time soon.

This is the view at the front of the store, that snow drift is 10 feet tall and blocks out one of our large windows.  The day has become quite sunny but you'd never know it inside.

Parking lot.

Parking lot.

We thought we were going to have plenty of time Sunday morning before the storm hit to get to your store and stock up on a few things....we were wrong.  We fell short on a few staples but we did have a pan of Chickpea Peanut Butter squares to keep us going:)  These are so freaking good and are made with a can of chickpeas instead of using flour.  Wow!

Wherever you are in the world, I hope you are safe and that the weather behaves itself for you.  For us, we're pretty hardy folk, used to pretty harsh winters.  I for one love the snow and love a good snow-day, tucked in safe at home with hot coco and a pan of squares.  I just hope that the plow guys manage to widen the road before the next storm hits.  Yikes.  Mr. and I will be more careful in the future and make sure that we don't run out of staples....but until then, I'll see you on the snowshoe trails.
